An impression of Antares

as written by one of the students from the November 2003 course -Stephen McKluskey

For anyone who wants to learn about African wildlife and native culture this course is an excellent opportunity, especially for those people like myself who have travelled to Africa from overseas. The knowledge gained both in the bush and the classroom is comprehensive and the process of learning is made easy due to Ian's relaxed easy-going attitude and lifetime's knowledge of the bush. The Antares centre offers excellent facilities that cater for all your needs and is situated right in the middle of the bush which brings the wildlife and scenery right to your doorstep. The things I will remember for years to come are not just the wildlife but my fellow students and Mel and Ian and the fun times we shared over the 6-week period. It is a wonderful opportunity to interact with people from SA and overseas and to make some friends along the way. So for anyone who would like to forget words like Traffic Jams, cities, overtime and just relax, it is a different world out here and you know nothing until you come and see it for yourself. Finally thanks to Mel and Ian- don't change a thing and best wishes for the future.
